Standards – a benefit to business or an unnecessary burden?

To be able to sell standards, highlight their true value and convince our business leaders to implement change we must be able to answer a simple question, what benefits will this bring?
Challenging economic times, pressure on saving money, protecting reputations and attracting new customers are top of most corporate agendas, so why are standards still seen as an unnecessary administrative burden and not a business imperative?
